For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

How to Be Saved

Have you ever asked yourself the question, "How is it that I can be saved and know for sure that I am going to Heaven?"  Well there is a Biblical answer to that and we'd like to share it with you.

See in the Bible someone else asked this same question and it is recorded in the book of Acts, chapter 16, verses 30 and 31 (16:30,31), and it goes like this, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they (that is the Apostle Paul and his companion Silas), said Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Another similar verse in Acts 20:21b says it this way, “repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”

So now we’ll explain repentance and faith or belief. First repentance; see the Bible says we are all sinners who have offended God one way or another and we deserve to go to hell. So when we repent it means that we have a change of mind whereby we turn from our sin and self toward God. So when we have this change of mind or attitude that results in a change of life along with belief we are saved. Now we want to explain this word belief. This word means to depend on, or to trust in, or to have faith in. So we are to have faith in Christ or trust and depend on him only, and not in ourselves, nor our good works, nor our religious background, nor our baptism, nor anything or anyone else.

One other thing we want to explain about Christ is that he is the only one that can save a person and that is because he is the only one that has ever been perfect and it is his blood sacrifice or finished work on the cross that can pay for our sins. But not only did he pay for our sins he also arose from the grave three days later. This is the Gospel or Good News.

So if you, I, or any other person in all the world repents and trusts in Christ as Savior, or in other words trusts in him and his finished work on the cross, the Bible says that person is SAVED and will go to heaven when they die.

There are many promises in the Bible in reference to salvation which mean the same thing, such as, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28, or  “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13, or “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life” John 3:36. So whether you have Come or Called on Christ it means to Come or to Call in a Believing way.

So take God at his word and believe his promises. There are no ifs, ands, or buts, if you’ve believed, then God has saved you. First John 5:13 says, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."  Titus 1:2 says, "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began."
